Ormanjhi case: Victim’s family demands capital punishment for prime suspect

Ranchi: Ranchi Police on Wednesday said they have seized an iron rod which they suspect was used to dig up an agriculture plot in Chandwe village in order to hide the head of a woman whose body was found naked and beheaded at a forest in Ormanjhi on January 3. The rod was recovered from Shiekh Bilal (who is the prime suspect in the case) house’s in Chandwe village, rural SP Naushad Alam said, adding that mud found on the rod is similar to one found in the plot where the head was buried.
Police found the woman’s head on Tuesday and are awaiting the DNA report to ascertain whether it belongs to the body that was found in Ormanjhi.
Meanwhile, the couple, who identified the headless body as that of their daughter Sufia Parveen, have identified the head and the mother said that after taking a good look at it, she is confident that it is of Sufia. “We want the authorities to hand over the body to us so that a proper burial can be done,” she added.
She further said that Bilal, who is still absconding, should be given capital punishment. “He should be hanged otherwise he would continue to commit such heinous crimes,” she added.
Alam said that raids are on to nab Bilal.
He added that Bilal was married to Sufia but their relationship turned sour, leading to the victim filing a case under Section 498 of the Indian Penal Code in Pithoria police station. “Based on her complaint, the cops had conducted raids and seized a pistol and some bullets from Bilal’s possession,” he said.
