COIMBATORE: Announcing the agenda for an industrial policy of the party, Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan said a 'department of possibilities' would be set up to explore and facilitate industrial revolution 4.0 and industrial 'Super Parks' would be set up in every district if the party captures power.
Explaining the party's seven-point agenda for industrial growth of the state, Kamal Haasan told reporters in Coimbatore on Wednesday that MNM would give a fillip to micro small and medium industries by ensuring liquidity to MSMEs through financial institutions and government initiatives once the party wins the elections.
"Big industries would be incentivized to set up back offices in less developed regions leading to creation of jobs and facilitate reverse migration," he said. Kamal said a timeline-based business facilitation model will be introduced that will ensure strict compliance from proposal to execution of industrial projects.
MNM would also hold a quarterly summit of government-industry- academia and NGO which would act as a think tank headed by the chief minister.
Setting up of skill development super parks in every district, under the public-private partnership, is also one of the plans of MNM.
MNM had earlier made announcements on the party's policies for governance and environment. "We are announcing a broad agenda for industrial growth now. The finer details would be announced in due course in the run-up to the polls," Kamal said.
To a query on alliance, Kamal said there was still time left for the polls and that a decision would be announced at the appropriate time. However, Kamal said he could see that the support base for MNM has grown over the years. "The turnout of people at our meetings has increased manifold compared to our past meetings," he said.
