Algar Telecom seeks suspension of Oi Movel sale

Brazilian regional operator Algar Telecom has asked the Council of Economic Defence (Cade) to suspend the sale of Oi Movel to a consortium made up of Vivo, TIM Brasil and Claro, reports Teletime. In a technical note submitted to the antitrust authority, Algar Telecom said the three companies acted to create an "economic decision centre with monopoly power, violating the competition rules set out in Law No. 12,529/2011, and acting without prior authorization from Cade".
