Oregon State redshirt junior running back Calvin Tyler Jr. will be leaving the Beavers and transferring for his final two years of eligibility, according to his social media post on Thursday.
“After a long decision and talk with my parents and support staff, we though that it was best that I transfer from Oregon State University and continue my academic and college football at another university,” Tyler said in the post. “To Coach (Jonathan) Smith and his staff, thank you for continuing to recruit me and more importantly, for continuing to believe in me.”
The former Silsbee Tiger and 2016 Beaumont Enterprise Super Gold Offensive Player of the Year played a total of 14 games with 121 rushing yards, 30 carries and two touchdowns. Tyler redshirted his sophomore season after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in 2018.
During his only season at Silsbee, he rushed for 2,861 yards and 29 touchdowns.
