GHAZIABAD: An analysis of 263 Covid-19
cases reported between January 1 and 10 has shown that not only is the number over five times less compared to the same period last month, but also some places do not have any active patients currently.
In the first 10 days of December last year, 1,471 cases had been reported in
Ghaziabad. In several places like Muradnagar,
Mohan Nagar, Maharajpur and New Panchvati, the number of active cases is below 10 at present. While six cases have been reported in Muradnagar, five each have been recorded in Mohan Nagar, Maharajpur and New Panchvati. Sihani Gate has reported four cases till January 10.
No cases have been recorded from Bhowapur, Kaila Bhatta, and Saheed Nagar. Khoda and Pasonda have recorded one case each.
Even in areas like Indirapuram, Raj Nagar, Vaishali and Vasundhara, that have recorded more cases, the numbers are less compared to the same time last month.
According to official figures, most cases (44) were reported in Indirapuram this year, followed by 29 in Shastri Nagar, 26 in Modinagar, 19 in Raj Nagar, 15 in Sahibabad, 13 in Vaishali and 12 in Vasundhara.
In December, Indirapuram had recorded 253 cases during the same period. While 167 cases were reported from Sahibabad, some of the other high case load areas were Carte (Shastri Nagar and adjoining areas) with 152 cases, followed by 148 cases in Vasundhara, 139 in Vaishali and 121 in Raj Nagar.
Khoda, which had emerged as a hotspot during the initial months, recorded 11 cases in the first 10 days of December. Ten cases were reported at Kaila Bhatta, followed by seven in Bhowapur and one each in Saheed Nagar and Pasonda.
The district has around 300 active cases now with a positivity rate of about 1%.
Officials said since December 10 last year, the number of
Covid cases have been showing a downward trend.
District magistrate Ajay Shankar Pandey said the focus will be vaccination now. “Preparations are on in full swing. Around 700 health workers will be vaccinated on the first day itself.”
