6 Chandigarh cops suspended over brawl reinstated

CHANDIGARH: All the six cops of the crime branch and Sector 26 police station, who were suspended for exchanging blows in the public, have been reinstated after two months on Tuesday.
In an order issued by a DGP UT office inspector Satwinder Singh, sub-inspector Neeraj Kumar and senior constable Sanjay of the crime branch and sub-inspector Naveen Kumar, senior constable Kavipal and constable Sompal of Sector 26 police station have been reinstated with immediate effect, however, a departmental enquiry has been pending against them.
All the six cops were suspended and departmental enquiry was marked against them on October 25, 2020. DSP Udaypal Singh has been enquiring the matter against the six cops and enquiry is still on in the matter.
Inspector Satwinder Singh of the crime branch and Naveen Kumar, SI of Sector 26 police station, fought over credit of catching two armed suspects at Sector 26. Later, other cops from the crime branch and police station joined the brawl. Inspector Satwinder Singh and Naveen had received injuries in the brawl. All the reinstated cops will join their duties where they were posted at the time of suspension from Wednesday.
Besides these six cops, one more suspended inspector Rajdeep Singh has also been reinstated by the DGP UT.
Rajdeep Singh was deployed in the VIP security wing and was suspended on October 27, 2020. He was suspended for refusing election duty on medical grounds and departmental enquiry was marked against him by senior police officers.
Rajdeep was directed to go on election duty at Baroda bypoll in Haryana, but the inspector had submitted a medical certificate describing incapable to do election duty.
