Muslim-Sikh group puts up water-proof tents

LUDHIANA: Members of the Muslim community from Malerkotla town got a big water-proof tent installed at Tikri border for protesting farmers. They have also been running a langar sewa there.
Dr Naseer Akhter, member of the group, Sikh Muslim Sanjhan, which installed the tent, said, “We are thirty members, all of whom are Muslims from Malerkotla. For 40 days, we have been running the langar at Singhu border. We would send zarda chawal (sweet, cooked rice) to various places along the border. Around 15 to 20 days ago, we thought one can sleep hungry but it is difficult to sleep in such cold. So we decided to install a water-proof tent.”
He said they have been working on it for many days and completed the installation process on Sunday. “Our members contributed to it and installed it as well. Apart from the tent, we also took around 100 mattresses, bed sheets and blankets and operationalised the facility near Pakoda Chowk at Tikri Border,” he said.
