Here's an indicator of what the team had to put up with in the Brisbane hotel: "There was no room service or house keeping facilities. The gym is very basic and not of international standards and the swimming pool can't be accessed. This wasn't what they were promised when they checked in," a senior BCCI source told PTI on conditions of anonymity.
Players are now reportedly being allowed to mingle, as a Board source confirmed to TOI: "Yes, they have been provided with a team room and are allowed to meet each other inside the hotel."

India will be playing the fourth Test in the Queensland capital from January 15 where the surge of COVID-19 cases and a border lockdown with New South Wales has led to a strict hotel quarantine for the Ajinkya Rahane-led team.
Earlier, there were reports that the presence of a new variant of Covid-19 in Brisbane had sent the BCCI into a tizzy. A confirmed case of a British variant of the Coronavirus has been found in the Australian city which plays host to the fourth and final Test match.
Queensland had to impose a three-day lockdown over fears of fresh cases of the new variant of covid-19 and the border closure, and the Indian team were staring at the prospect of another round a quarantine.
It is learnt that BCCI president Sourav Ganguly, secretary Jay Shah and CEO Hemang Amin have all got in touch with their Cricket Australia counterparts after complaints reached them and have been assured that the the Indian contingent will be made to feel comfortable from here on.
The Indian cricket team, which landed in Brisbane for the fourth and final Test against Australia, was in for a shock on Tuesday as it was lodged at a hotel which "lacked basic facilities", prompting an intervention from the BCCI top brass.

Report: The Indian cricket board is in talks with hosts Cricket Australia (CA) to allow the Indian cricket team leeway after the Indian cricketers checked in at the Sofitel Brisbane Central hotel to a 'Do It Yourself (DIY)' directive that denied them housekeeping services. The directives also denied them the use of the swimming pool as Queensland, of which Brisbane is the capital, seeks to avoid community transmission of Covid-19. A couple of areas in Brisbane have, in fact, been declared as hotspot areas. A official of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) confirmed to IANS that the team, which reached Brisbane on Tuesday afternoon, has been denied housekeeping, room service and the use of the swimming pool.
"The BCCI is in talks with CA over the matter," said the official, hoping that the issue will be resolved. There was speculation that India wouldn't travel to Brisbane, though there was no official statement from either the BCCI or CA on this isssue. Both teams are being subjected to strict quarantine rules as they have arrived in Queensland from Sydney in New South Wales, which saw a rise in Covid-19 cases recently. The state of Queensland saw a few Covid-19 cases in recent days which makes the precautions and a demand for hard quarantine understandable. "Queensland has recorded one new local Covid-19 case and two in hotel quarantine while two Brisbane locations remain on high alert after they were visited by a man with the highly contagious UK strain," said a report on Channel 9 news website. Queensland premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said that the state has 28 active cases.
Another report further added that the Indian team and their management has told the BCCI that it should either be allowed to use the amenities at the hotel and given certain facilities – which has been shared with Cricket Australia (CA) and their Indian counterparts – or be put on a flight back to India at the earliest. The BCCI has reportedly not been too understanding of the situation and senior members of the board – who are enquiring about their players – have no idea what president Sourav Ganguly & Co. are up to. "Look at the state of the team. It’s like a hospital ward. And then we expect them to come back and play a full-fledged series against England, then play the IPL, then head to England for a five-Test series, then play the T20 World Cup. Are they humans or machines," BCCI members told the publication. The final Test of the series begins on Friday (January 15).
