Bhandara hospital fire: Maha governor B S Koshyari visits Bhandara hospital

Bhandara, Jan 13 (UNI) Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Wednesday visited Bhandara District Hospital, where 10 infants lost their lives in fire that broke out at the Sick Newborn Care Unit (SNCU) and took review of the overall situation here, an official release said.



While instructing that precautionary measures should be taken immediately to prevent such incidents in future, the families of each deceased child will be given assistance of Rs 2 lakh each, governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari said after inspecting the general hospital here today.



Koshyari also interacted with the mothers of the victims and inquired about their condition. He instructed the medical authorities to take proper care of the mothers and children.



A tragic incident had taken place late night on January 9 and 10 babies died after the fire broke out at the Neonatal Care Unit of the four storeyed general hospital in Bhandara, about 60 kms from Nagpur. While, seven infants were rescued safely .



Assembly Speaker Nana Patole, MP Sunil Mendhe, MLA Parinay Phuke, Narendra Bhondekar, Raju Karemore, District Collector Sandeep Kadam, District Superintendent of Police Vasant Jadhav were present on the occasion, the release added.
