Naomi Osaka – Louis Vuitton Deal: Naomi Osaka has been unveiled as Louis Vuitton’s new brand ambassador. The French label announced the partnership alongside colorful pictures from the tennis star’s latest fashion shoot for the brand. The financial terms of the agreement were not made public, but The Action Network’s Darren Rovell described it as a ‘seven-figure’ deal. Osaka is currently preparing to compete at 2021 season’s first Grand Slam – Australian Open.
The three-time Grand Slam winner, who is currently ranked third in the world, will appear in the label’s Spring-Summer 2021 campaign.
“Wow this is actually crazy,” the Japanese star wrote on both her Twitter and Instagram accounts. “Honored to be @LouisVuitton newest House Ambassador.
“Funny story: I first bought my mom a LV bag when I was 16 as a birthday present and it’s kinda been a tradition since. Do I call this a full circle moment? Yes.”
In a press release, Louis Vuitton described Osaka as “multi-faceted, independent and modern,” and “perfectly incarnating the Louis Vuitton woman.”
The sponsorship comes on the back of an eventful 2020 for Osaka, who on her way to winning the US Open was widely praised for her support of the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement during the tournament.
Last year also saw Osaka surpass Serena Williams as the world’s highest-paid female athlete. According to Forbes 23-year-old earned US$34 million from endorsement deals with the likes of Nike, Mastercard and Nissin deals in her portfolio.
