Militants nabbed with arms and ammunitions

Imphal, Jan 13 (UNI) Manipur Police and troops today nabbed two alleged militants with arms and ammunitions. Police said a reliable input that some cadres of the banned UNLF organization were planning to plant explosive devices and target security forces in Bishnupur District on the eve of the upcoming Republic Day, teams of Bishnupur Police and and a column of 29 AR under the overall supervision of SP Bishnupur conducted a cordon and search operation at Ngakchoupokpi area.
During the cordon and search operation, one of the teams came across two persons at Inter-Village Road near Khwairakpan Yangoi Ningthou Temple in a suspected manner. As the team approached them, both of them tried to run away. During the chase, the team caught hold of one person along with a polythene bag while the other person escaped from the place. Immediately all teams were called in and a massive man hunt was launched in the lake area of Ngakchoupokpi area. Later, the
arrested person identified himself as one Khundongbam Lanjingba Singh of Wangkhei Ningthem Pukhri Mapal,Imphal East District. He also revealed that his paternal uncle is Pambei Khudongbam, Chairman of the UNLF.
One 0.32 mm Pistol, magazine, M20 pistol magazine, eight live rounds of 0.32 mm, One IED gelatin pack weighing 415 gms, two detonators, One exide battery (12V) power source, electronic safety fuse, Cordless remote control initiator, (9V) batteries and a vehicle was seized.
On questioning, the person revealed that he is working for the UNLF and on the instructions of one S/S Major Nongdon of the UNLF, he collected the above mentioned items from one Bobo from Wangkhei Keithel Ashangbi to deliver it to an unknown person at Khwairakpam and was arrested during the meeting. He also revealed that they were planning to plant the device in Tiddim road before the Republic Day.
The arrested person along with the above seized items were handed over to Bishnupur PS and a case has been registered. Massive search is being carried out to arrest other escaped person.

Court queries about disposal of bio medical waste

Patna, Jan 13 (UNI) Patna High Court today asked Bihar government to inform the court whether the hand gloves, PPE kits of Corona fighters and other bio medical waste were being disposed off as per the disposal law or not?
While hearing a PIL filled by a law student Shivani Kaushik, the division bench of the court, comprising chief justice Mr Sanjay Karol and Justice Minister Anil Kumar Sinha, asked the municipal corporation of Patna, Gaya and Darbhanga about coronavirus security cover of the passengers at the airport and disposal of curtains and other such items.

Sikkim receives COVID vaccine on Wednesday

Gangtok, Jan 13 (UNI) Vaccine for the prevention of Coronavirus is finally there. ‘Vaccine (Covishield) has been delivered here at 6.40 pm Wednesday. The Vaccine has been stored in a cooler at the Govt Hospital, informed Dr Pempa Tshering Bhutia, Director General cum Secretary Health, Govt of Sikkim, here.
Total 12,500 doses of Covishield vaccine from Serum Institute of India, Pune, have arrived for Vaccination drive to start from 16th January.
