UP: Eye-witness in murder case shot dead in Mau

Mau, Jan 13 (UNI) A witness in the murder case of a former Gram Pradhan was shot dead by miscreants in the Chiraiyyakot area here, police sources said on Wednesday.
Following the incident, the enraged villagers pelted stones at the police vehicle and set it afire.
As per sources here, former Gram Pradhan Munna Bagi had been shot dead openly in front of the Panchayat in the Asalpur village of the Chiraiyyakot area last year. Arvind Ram, the nephew of the deceased, was an eyewitness in the same case. However, he was shot dead by unidentified assailants on Tuesday evening.

Enraged with Arvind's murder, the angry villagers pelted stones at the police vehicle which had reached the spot after the incident. They later set it ablaze. It is being suspected that Arvind was murdered since he was the witness in his uncle's murder.
Police are on the lookout for the accused.
