Virus grips 121 more as Lucknow tally crosses 80k mark

LUCKNOW: As the city continued to record the highest number of new Covid-19 cases in the state, the case count since the outbreak crossed 80,000 mark on Tuesday.
The relief, however, was that the transmission rate has declined further. The last 10,000 cases were added in 47 days in comparison to the previous 10,000 in 37 days.
Overall, an average 136 cases have been recorded daily this month in comparison to 216 daily average in December.
As many as 121 more infections were reported in the past 24 hours, which were 23% of the total count of the state.
Three patients succumbed to the novel coronavirus infection in the last 24 hours. The figure accounted for 30% of the total casualties in UP.
About 113 patients also recovered from the disease on Tuesday, taking overall recoveries so far to 76,729, which is nearly 96% of the total 80,113 caseload. However, the death toll has mounted to 1,139. The city still has 2,245 active cases.
Rae Bareli Road recorded maximum 14 cases in the city. Gomtinagar, Hazratganj, Vikasnagar recorded eight each and Indiranagar and Jankipuram six each new cases.
