While developer Treyarch has been silent on its more competitive Ranked mode for Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, the studio is insisting the playlist is still in the works.
In response to a thread on the Black Ops Cold War subreddit, Treyarch community manager Josh Torres said Ranked mode is coming but no release date has been nailed down yet.
"Yes. Ranked Play will be a thing." Torres, who goes by FoxhoundFPS, said when asked if the mode is in development. "I currently don't have a timetable to share with you, however."
Before Call of Duty Black Ops Cold War launched on November 13, game designer and director David Vonderhaar teased the game's Ranked mode in October 2020 while talking to popular Twitch streamer Brennon "Goldy" O'Neill. At the time, Vonderhaar said that there hasn't been a Black Ops game without some sort of "competitive agenda." He brought up Ranked again in November 2020 in a reply to pro Call of Duty player Seth "Scump" Abner.
This news comes as Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is gearing up for its mid-season update, which will introduce a new map and mode for multiplayer and more content for Zombies.
