Ranchi, Jan 12 : The Jharkhand police have recovered the severed head of a woman at Chandwe village, nine days after her decapitated and naked body was found in a forest in Ormanjhi here, officials said on Tuesday.

According to the police, the chopped head was found buried in the cultivable land of the accused Shekh Belal, who is still at large. Belal is the ex-husband of the deceased.

A beheaded and naked body of a woman was recovered from Ormanjhi in Jharkhand's Ranchi district on January 3. The next day Chief Minister Hemant Soren's convoy was attacked by some unidentified persons. The miscreants were part of a protest that was staged at Kishoreganj Chowk following the recovery of the woman's body. The demonstrators demanded the arrest of the culprits behind the incident.

Ranchi police on Monday released photographs of the accused.

Police said that Belal was in jail one year ago.

The sensational case has created a storm in the state. The ruling JMM had accused the BJP of the attack on the CM's convoy. The saffron party has been targeting the Soren government over the deteriorating law and order situation.
