MediaTek’s new processor to arrive on January 20

MediaTek introduced its Dimensity processors last year. The company is planning to expand its portfolio with the launch of new processors under the series.
MediaTek has dropped a new teaser for its upcoming Dimensity processor on microblogging site Weibo.
The post reads, “On January 20, the new products of the Dimensity series will meet with you. Brand new products, superior technology, and upgraded experience”. (roughly translated from Chinese using Google translate)
The post does not reveal anything else about the upcoming products.
However, we can expect to see a processor manufactured using the company's 6nm process node, which is also likely to be the company's flagship processor for 2021.
The lower process number represents higher chip density and better performance and energy efficiency.
The upcoming flagship chip is expected to feature Mali G-77 GPU and high-performance ARM Cortex-A78 core.
Several leaks and rumours about the chip suggest a benchmark score equivalent to Qualcomm’s last year flagship Snapdragon 865+.
The Snapdragon 865+ was based on the TSMC’s 7nm processor, while its successor Snapdragon 888 is based on a 5nm process. Also, Samsung Exynos 2100 will also be based on the same 5nm process.
Also, the upcoming MediaTek processor is expected to arrive in the budget to mid-range smartphones.
