HYDERABAD: Cyberabad police arrested a 11 member inter-state gang, which includes two receivers, who were involved in 5 different cases, including 3 dacoities. They are accused in stealing huge quantities of copper wire and other electrical material from various construction sites in city suburbs.
During a press conference, Cyberabad police commissioner VC Sajjanar said that the Rajasthan natives - Pradeep Kushwaha, Kuldeep, Madhav Singh, Dharmender Singh, Sanjay and Manish Kumar in coordination with Uttar Pradesh natives - Nihal Singh, Kuldeep, Madhav Singh, Dharmender Kumar committed different offences in city. These 10 persons along with Vijay Kumar, who is resident of Hafeezpet, were arrested on Wednesday.
Police said that from the accused they recovered Rs 55 lakh of stolen property, which includes huge quantities of copper wire bundles, panel boards and others besides a country made pistol, one SUV vehicle.
Officials said that this gang had committed dacoities in RC Puram, Dundigal, Shankarpally whereas the house burglaries were committed at RC Puram, Narsingi, Shankarpally, one case of theft at RC Puram.
"The accused used to approach staff of different construction companies by going to their construction sites. Most of these accused are electricians. In the pretext of seeking employment, these accused used to conduct recce of the construction sites. Later with the support of the other gang members they used to commit offences between 11 pm and 3 am. In some cases, these accused tied hands and legs of the site watchman and other staff and threatened with country made weapons, while stealing the property," Sajjanar said.
According to police, Manish Kumar who owns an electrical store received all the stolen property from the other accused by buying it at a cheaper price.
Commissioner said that they have information that most of these arrested accused have previous criminal history and they are verifying with police of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan to gather more information.
It was in the last one week the accused committed 5 offences in the city suburbs.
Officials said that the accused were nabbed based on the CCTV footage, in which they were found using a vehicle with Rajasthan registration number.
