Bhubaneswar to get Covishield vaccine today

BHUBANESWAR: The wait for the Covid-19 vaccine finally gets over. A Cargo flight carrying the consignment from Pune is scheduled to land at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar at 4.25pm, official sources said.
Additional chief secretary (health) Pradipta Kumar Mohapatra said Bhubaneswar will get 34 cases of Covishield vaccine 10 dose, i.e, 40,800 vials.
The sources said the vaccines will be delivered by AAI Cargo Logistics and Allied Services Company Limited (AAICLAS) in Chennai, Kolkata, Guwahati, Vijayawada, Bhubaneswar, Ahmedabad, Patna and Lucknow.
According to the SOP, the vaccine boxes will be delivered to the consignee at the respective airports within 10 minutes of arrival. In Bhubaneswar, the vaccine will be shifted from the airport to the state vaccine store and from there to the regional and district stores later.
Sources said Odisha will get vaccine for 3.28 lakh healthcare workers who are scheduled to be covered in the first phase of inoculation starting January 16.
The district administrations have been alerted to keep their vaccine vans ready to receive the vaccine in a short notice from the vaccine store in Bhubaneswar. The January 16 launching of the vaccine is planned in 152 government health facilities and eight private hospitals.
