Meanwhile, the Regional Meteorological Centre (RMC), Chennai, warning of widespread rainfall, thunder, and chances of lightning till early Friday. “This will be mainly under the influence of the presence of a cyclonic circulation laying off Sri Lanka coast over the Bay of Bengal,” stated the weather update issued by RMC, Chennai.

Tamil Nadu recorded 682 positive cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the state tally to 8,26,943. The state recorded six deaths on Monday, putting the state toll at 12,228. All six of them had succumbed due to comorbidities. A total of 869 patients were discharged following treatment, putting the total number of recoveries at 8,07,744.

A day after a protest in Chennai to demand his political entry, Rajinikanth on Monday clarified that he has no plans to revisit his decision to abstain from the political arena and asked his fans not to pressure him further. “Do not put pressure on me to change my decision to not enter politics by holding rallies. My statement was clear about why I am not entering electoral politics,” he said.
