Jipmer bags national award for cleanliness

PUDUCHERRY: Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (Jipmer) has bagged the second place for cleanliness under the 'Kayakalp' scheme among the group A central government health facilities (hospitals with more than 1,000 beds) for the year 2019-20.
The Union health and family welfare ministry instituted the award to honour healthcare institutions with the highest standards of sanitation and hygiene. The ministry presents the awards to deserving institutions every year.
Union health and family welfare minister Harsh Vardhan presented the award to Jipmer director Rakesh Aggarwal in the presence of Union minister of state for health and family Welfare Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Jipmer medical superintendent Ashok Shankar Badhe, deputy director (administration) Abdoul Hamide, additional medical superintendent Anitha Rustagi and senior medical officer Sunil Jadhav via video-conferencing.
Jipmer has maintained its track record over the years for cleanliness. It bagged the second place in the year 2018-19 and third place for the year 2017-18. Jipmer director appreciated the efforts of all the employees of the institute and in particular the Kayakalp team in ensuring sanitation and quality of care. He congratulated the employees on the repeated achievements and exhorted them to do better to ensure that the institute either maintains or betters its rank for the next year.
The Kayakalp awards are aimed at reinstating and reconfirming the trust and confidence of the community in the healthcare facilities. The awards played a pivotal role in improving facilities in government hospitals over the last few years.
