'Soul' of Swamiji needed to heal Capital, Capitol: Experts

New Delhi, Jan 12 (UNI)Amid countrywide birthday celebrations of Swami Vivekananda on Tuesday, thinkers are of the view that the ideology of the great monk is very much 'relevant' now to quell violence and frustration in the world, specially in the two renowned democracies-India and the United States.
The experts' observations relating to commemorate Swamiji's principles came a day after democratic functioning in both India and the USA took significant 'turns'.
While the Supreme Court on Monday severely criticised the Centre for its handling of the farm protests and said it would like to keep in abeyance implementation of the three contentious agri laws, Democrats formally introduced their resolution to impeach US President Donald Trump, charging him with "incitement of insurrection" for his role in last week's riots at the US Capitol.
"Both the Indian Capital, powered by imminent vaccination for Covid-19 but uneasy on agri protests , and the US Capitol and the authorities reassessing security arrangements for the Joe Biden swearing on January 20 may seek solace to Swami Vivekananda's world-recognised ideas," the experts observed in unison.
Recalling Swamiji's world famous speech at the First World's Parliament of Religions in Chicago on September 11, 1893, the pandits opined that had Swamiji been alive, considering the farm impasse, he might have added "Sisters and Brothers of India too....."
Meanwhile, the agitating farmers here have hardened their stand demanding nothing except repeal of the laws, and asserted that they would not meet the proposed SC-constituted expert committee on the issue.
The Union Home Ministry also moved the Apex Court on Monday seeking to restrain protesting farmers from taking out a tractor trolly on the Republic Day maintaining that it would be a huge embarrassment to the nation if the Constitutional ceremony was disrupted in any manner or a law and order situation arose.
The Supreme Court is likely to hear the petitions this noon.
