Punjab: Class XII student found hanging in Govt Girls School; leaves suicide note

LUDHIANA: Panic gripped the Government Girls Senior Secondary School, village Gill on Tuesday morning when the body of a 17-year-old class 12 student, was found hanging in a classroom.
According to police the girl did not return home on Monday after school and later on she committed. The police have also recovered a suicide note from the spot in which the girl has stated that her parents wanted her to get married after schooling, however she wanted to study further and make a good career. Though she has not blamed anyone for forcing her to take the extreme step.
The police investigation suggests that the girl was good in studies. On Monday she came to school however did not return home. Later on, the family approached the police to file a missing complaint after she could not be traced.
Investigating officer ASI Harnek Singh said that, on Tuesday morning when students reached school, they found the girl hanging with the ceiling fan, with her dupatta and raised an alarm. During investigation, it was found that the girl did not return home on Monday. She came out of her classroom after school hours and went inside another classroom. About an hour later, the private guard hired by the school, locked all the classrooms without checking if someone is inside. On Tuesday morning he unlocked the classrooms but the door was bolted from outside so he did not see the girl hanging.
“The police have recovered a suicide note in which the girl has stated that she wanted to study further after school and to have a good career however her family is planning for her marriage after schooling. Which is why she is ending her life. She also stated that nobody is responsible for her suicide” added ASI.
The body of the girl has been sent to Civil hospital for autopsy. The police have also recorded the statement of the father and are proceeding with 174 of CrPC.
