NDMC goes door to door to enrol seniors

New Delhi Municipal Council
NEW DELHI: Medical workers of maternity and child welfare centres (M&CW) in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) areas have started visiting residential areas for verification of details of citizens above 50 years and other people with comorbidities.
“At least 60-70 workers engaged with the nine M&CW centres in NDMC areas have started the exercise to visit residential areas, contacting residents’ welfare associations and collecting information in the format provided by District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA). The information will be verified with the data already available with the district administration and the centres,” said an NDMC official.
“After the verification exercise gets over, a list of the residents who will be contacted in later phases of Covid-19 vaccination, is likely to be prepared,” said the official.
A similar exercise has started in other parts of the city with the help of teachers, health workers and others on the direction of the respective district administrations. “In north-west Delhi, a similar survey was conducted recently to confirm the address of persons above 50 years living in the area and others with comorbidities. The data collected will be used in later phases of vaccination,” said another civic official.
North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor Jai Prakash said that their staff were working in coordination with the district administration and promptly implementing their directions.
Meanwhile, during their standing committee meeting on Monday, a senior South Delhi Municipal Corporation official said that five centres had been identified for Covid-19 vaccination in south Delhi.
“Each centre will have four corporation staff, in addition to staff from district administration,” the official added.
