The first consignment of Corona Vaccine Kovshield to be made at the Serum Institute of India in Pune has departed from Pune airport and reached Delhi airport. Pune Zone-5 DCP Namrata Patil said that the first consignment has been dispatched amidst adequate security arrangements.
SpiceJet aircraft reached Delhi with the first batch of vaccine
Ajay Singh, President and Managing Director of SpiceJet said, 'SpiceJet has delivered the first batch of the Kovid vaccine in India today. The first batch of 'Kovishield' had 34 cases weighing 1088 kg which were brought from Pune to Delhi.
The first batch was dispatched under tight security. The consignment of the Kovishield vaccine in three trucks was transported to Pune International Airport. They will be delivered to various parts of the country from the airport. The work of vaccination in the country will start on Saturday 16 January.
The first aircraft reached Delhi
Sandeep Bhosle, MD, SB Logistics, the company responsible for dispatching the drug consignment, said that today, the Corona vaccine will be sent from Pune airport to 13 locations in the country by eight aircraft. The first aircraft has reached Delhi from Pune Airport.

No bargaining with the government
Serum Institute of India had dismissed rumors of delay in the process of transport due to any agreement with the central government regarding the price. CEO of Serum Institute, Adar Poonawala had said that there is no compromise or bargain about the price here. Some procedures were required to be followed before the vaccine dose was transported.
Poonawala had said that the first 10 crore doses of Kovishield would be given to the government at the rate of about 200 rupees per dose. It will be available in the market at the rate of Rs. 1000 per dose. Poonawala said that his company is preparing five to six crore vaccine doses every month.
