The Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors use AMD's Zen 3 core architecture, and are said to "provide unprecedented levels of performance and incredible battery life for gamers, creators, and professionals."
Products using these new mobile processors will ship this quarter.
There are 10 Zen 3 Ryzen 5000 series mobile processors, ranging from the 5600U with six cores and clock speeds up to 4.0GHz to the 5980HX with eight cores that run at up to 4.8GHz.
AMD says the 5980HX is capable of up to 23% increased single-threaded performance and up to 17% faster multi-threaded performance over the previous generation making it the ideal solution for gaming and creator notebooks.
The family also includes three Zen 2 processors with lower clock speeds and significantly smaller caches.
AMD also announced the Ryzen Pro 5000 series mobile processors, which include security and manageability features for the commercial market. The are expected to ship by the middle of 2021.
For desktop use, the company announced the Ryzen 5900 (up to 4.7GHz) and 5800 (up to 4.6GHz) processors, and three variants of the Ryzen Threadripper Pro running at up to 4.3GHz.
