Government of India has launched Atmanirbhar Bharat Rozgar Yojana (ABRY) for employees having Aadhar which will be joined with Employees Provident Fund (EPF) membership for the first time.
The scheme has been implemented from October 1, 2020 and it has been designed for companies, industrial bodies, firms and even NGOs/societies and employees working in such companies, firms and societies and are enrolled with effect from October 1, 2020 till June 30, 2021.Under this scheme, Government of India will provide subsidy for two years in respect of new employees engaged on or after October 1, 2020 till June 30, 2021 .
Government will pay for both 12 percent employees contribution and 12 percent employer's contribution which amounts up to 24 percent of wages towards EPF in respect of new employees in establishments employing upto 1000 employees for two years while Government will pay only employees share of EPF contribution which is only 12 percent of wages for new employees in establishments employing more than 1000 employees for two years.
An employee drawing a monthly wage of less than Rs 15,000 who was not working in any establishment registered with the Employees Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) and did not have a Universal Account Number (UAN) or EPF member account prior to October 1, 2020 will be eligible for the benefit.
Any EPF member possessing Universal Account Number (UAN) with monthly wage of less than Rs 15,000 and exited from employment during Covid pandemic from March 1, 2020 till September 30, 2020 and did not join any EPF covered establishment till September 30, 2020 can avail the benefit of the scheme as well.
EPFO will credit the contribution in Aadhar seeded account of members in electronic manner, said a statement.
