Some military jawans, including Colonel B Santosh Babu, may be honored posthumously for gallantry on Republic Day. Sources gave this information on Monday. Sources say that military personnel, including Colonel Babu, are expected to be honored on Republic Day for demonstrating indomitable courage during the Galvan conflict.

Colonel Babu, commanding officer of the 16 Bihar Regiment, and 19 other soldiers were martyred on 15 June, giving a befitting reply to Chinese soldiers trying to sneak into Indian territory in the Galvan Valley of eastern Ladakh.

The Chinese side also suffered heavy losses in this violent crash. Although China did not disclose its casualties, according to the US intelligence report, 35 Chinese soldiers were killed. After this incident, there has been a serious military deadlock on the Line of Actual Control (LAC) between India and China.
