Under-construction mall caves in, labour dies

New Delhi, Jan 10 (UNI) A 34-year-old labourer lost his life, while several workers are feared buried under an under-construction mall that caved-in at Sector 12 of Dwarka in the national capital on Sunday.
According to police, the accident took place at the proposed site of the third part of Vegas Mall.
They identified the deceased as Sheikh Angar. He was rushed to the Venkateshwar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
Angar was pulled out from under the rubble, while efforts were underway to rescue other labourers.
Delhi Police, along with Delhi Fire Services, Delhi Disaster Management Authority and civil defence teams, have been pressed into action to carry out a search and rescue operation at the accident site. Top officials have also arrived at the scene to oversee the task.
A Delhi Police patrolling vehicle was first informed about the mishap. A statement from Delhi police said the mudslide happened during the construction of a basement at plot number four at Sector 12 of Dwarka.
This is the same spot in Sector 12 of Dwarka, where a City Centre is also under construction.
Authorities were in the process of initiating legal action against the culpable parties, it added.
