Charity speedrunning event Awesome Games Done Quick 2021 has come to an end over the weekend after having raised $2.7 million for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. The event came to an end after 157 speedruns, 185 prizes given out, 91 bids, 25,652 donors and 42,090 donations.
The largest donation during the event was a whopping $187,084.08. The average donation per donor was around $65.67, and the median rested at $25.
Awesome Games Done Quick is one of several speedrunning charity events run by Games Done Quick. One of the highlights of the recent event was a Super Mario 64 speerun where the player was blindfolded the entire time.
There were also several world records for speedruns set during Awesome Games Done Quick 2021. Flying Fox broke the record for Sonic 1 (2013), Zaxon96 broke the record for Sonic 3 Angel Island Revisited, GlitchWitch broke it for Energy, and the three-player team of Heckson, Whisperra and meatr0o set a new world record for Diablo 3.
