Hyderabad: Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao virtually set the agenda for Telangana for the new year on Monday, when he announced a series of decisions, including the preparedness for the all-important Covid vaccination drive commencing January 16, reopening of educational institutions on February 1 close to a year after they shut down, issues pertaining to the Revenue Department and the overall development of both urban and rural areas in the State.
The Chief Minister, who held the new year’s first joint meeting of the Cabinet and District Collectors at Pragathi Bhavan, announced that all educational institutions – government and private – in the State would start functioning for students of classes 9 and above, including Intermediate, degree and professional courses. Government officials and managements of all educational institutions were directed to strictly follow the Covid-19 protocol and guidelines while conducting the classes. Managements should ensure that the school premises, including classrooms and washrooms, were clean and ready by January 25, he said.
Reviewing the arrangements for the vaccination drive that will be launched on January 16, Chandrashekhar Rao, stating that health and other frontline workers would be the first to receive the initial jabs, said necessary arrangements were already in place to administer the vaccine at 1,213 primary healthcare centres across the State. In all, 866 cold chain points were set up to transport the vaccine and volunteers kept ready at all levels.
A committee led by Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar will oversee the vaccination at the State level while task force committees set up at the district and zonal levels will monitor the vaccination drive at the district level. The Chief Minister directed all the Ministers, MPs, MLAs, MLCs, ZPTCs and other elected representatives to pitch in and complement the efforts of the medical professionals and officials.
Should anyone develop any allergy or react to the vaccine, a doctor posted at each of the vaccination centres will attend to them immediately, he said, and pointed out that an ambulance would also be made available at every centre to meet any emergency. The government would also set up a call centre at the State level for necessary support.
Focusing attention on the crucial reforms that the State government had launched in the Revenue Department, Chandrashekhar Rao instructed the officials to complete the exercise of including or deleting provisions on Dharani, the one-stop portal for land transactions, within a week.
“The website should be made more flexible and user-friendly for sale and purchase of agriculture lands, for which modification should be completed within a week. Invite fresh applications for pending mutations which also should be completed within a week,” he said, and said the portal should also be made accessible to NRIs who register themselves using their passport number. “Necessary changes should be made to enable companies and societies to get passbooks for lands they purchase,” he added.
Pointing out that details of those who did not provide their Aadhaar numbers were not uploaded on Dharani, the Chief Minister suggested that they be given another chance to register their properties using their Aadhaar number to obtain passbooks. As for prohibited lands, Chandrashekhar Rao was categorical in stating that the list should be updated regularly through changes as per court verdicts. “Lands acquired by the State government from farmers should be mentioned under the Prohibited Lands list,” he suggested.
Chandrashekhar Rao said promotions should be given in all the departments immediately, and postings on compassionate grounds should be completed within a week.
He also took stock of the developmental activities taken up under Pattana Pragathi and Palle Pragathi programmes in urban and rural areas across the State.
