Sports Council fencing coach nominated as member Khelo India Talent Identification Committee

Jammu, Jan 11 (UNI) Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council Junior Coach of fencing, Rachna Jamwal was on Monday nominated as member of the "Talent Identification Zonal Committee" for North Zone (Fencing) of the Khelo India Identification Programme.
As per the letter issued by Dr. S S Roy, High Performance, Director, Khelo India Talent identification, Ms Jamwal has been nominated as a member of Talent Identification Zonal Committee" for North Zone (Fencing) of the Khelo India identification programme, an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
States covered under the North Zone are Haryana, Ladakh, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Delhi and Chandigarh.
As per the letter, identification of grass-root talent will be done by using appropriate methods and non-competitions, to ensure upgradation of data base on NSRS and create ranking of athletes.
A Dronacharya awardee, Ms Jamwal is the first female NIS qualified in fencing from Jammu and Kashmir.
Ms Rachna Jamwal has given more than 15 years to her career to the department of J&K State Sports Council.
She has participated in many national championships including National Games.
She did one year Diploma in fencing from the reputed National Institute of Sports (NIS), Patiala Punjab.
