Commission issued instructions to conduct assembly elections smoothly
By issuing advisories to Assam, Kerala, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry, the commission said, officers who have been ordered to take action for negligence in previous elections or in cases where the trial is going on, should not be put on duty this time. The elections can be conducted smoothly without any interference.
The commission also directed that officers should not be posted in their home district for the direct process of conducting the voting. At the same time, in the Advisory issued last month, the Commission had directed that the employees who retire in six months should not be put on election duty. Assembly elections are due in five states between April and June this year.
