Imphal, January 10 2021: A one-day awareness programme on 'Pests and diseases' was held at Kwatha village, Tengnoupal on Saturday.

The programme organised by Manipur Peace & Integrity (MAPI) Council with the help of Horticulture Department was attended by ex-secretary of Kwatha Village Authority, Ksh Yaima and president MAPI Council N Bimol Meitei among others.

As a part of the programme, disinfectants and sprayer pumps were also distributed to the locals.

Maintaining that Kwatha is an old village, home to nearly 75 families, the council continued that agriculture is the primary occupation of almost all the households.

Kwatha village is also famous for its bamboo shoot.

The aid was extended to help the local farmers in dealing with the pest attack that has been challenging them since the past few years to some extent, MAPI Council added.
