Kerala reports 3,110 new COVID cases, 3,922 recoveries: Health Min

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 11 (UNI) COVID-19 was detected in 3,110 persons in Kerala on Monday, while 3,922 patients recovered from the disease, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.
"In the past 24 hours, Covid was not confirmed in one person who recently came to Kerala from the UK (total 54 now) and their samples have been sent to NIV, Pune for further testing. So far, six people who came from the UK, were diagnosed with the genetically modified virus," the Minister said in a press release here this evening.
Meanwhile, 20 deaths were confirmed today due to Novel Coronavirus, taking the death toll in the state to 3,322.
She said 35,281 samples were tested during the last 24 hours and the test positivity rate is 8.81 per cent. Till now, a total of 84,87,178 samples have been sent for testing.
Today, one place was declared as new hotspot, even as two areas were excluded. There are 440 hotspots in Kerala now.
