CHENNAI: DMK president M K Stalin on Monday asked the Centre to reconsider the implementation of farm laws in the wake of the observations made by the Supreme Court.
“The Union government must take cognizance of the observations made by the Supreme Court to reconsider the implementation of farm laws. The intervention by the court today shows that the Union government has not been performing its functions in line with the constitutional mandate,” Stalin tweeted.
“Taking the advice from all quarters into consideration, paying heed to the continued protests by lakhs of farmers and the strong opposition from various states and political parties, the Centre must halt the implementation of farm laws immediately,” he tweeted further.
The DMK and its allies, including the Congress, MDMK, the two Communist parties and others, have been demanding that the Centre withdraw its three farm laws. They have held multiple protests and also a hunger strike in Chennai.
