Puducherry, Jan 10 (UNI) The Secular Democratic Alliance (SDA) on Sunday temporarily ended their four-day dharna, seeking the recall of Lt Governor Kiran Bedi on the third day itself in view of the harvest festival 'Pongal' on January 15.
Addressing the gathering this evening, the Union Territory Chief Minister V Narayansamy, who led the agitation, said that in view of the 'Pongal festival' and as the SDA is chalking out other modes of agitation, the dharna is being called off tonight .
He said as the next phase of the agitation, a signature campaign, demanding the recall of the Lt. Governor, will be held on January 22, while demonstrations will be held in all the 30 assembly segments on January 29, a fast will be observed on February 5 and a total bandh will be observed on a day between February 15 and 20.
Exhorting the people to extend their support to these agitations, the CM added that then only their rights could be protected.
Coming down on the Leader of the Opposition N Rangasamy, he said that while, Mr Stalin is functioning well as an opposition leader, it is doubtful whether an opposition leader is there in Puducherry.
