Assam Rifles organises vocational training, awareness programme

Imphal, January 09 2021: Kangvai Bn Assam Rifles under Churachandpur sector concluded vocational training, on carpentry and welding for the youths of Ningthoukhong area under Bishnupur district yesterday.

The event was organised under the Assam Rifles Civic Action Programme with an aim of instilling basic skills or carpentry and welding to the unemployed youths hailing from the remote areas of Bishnupur and also to make them self sufficient in earning a quality livelihood, said a statement of PRO Assam Rifles.

The local populace of the region expressed profound gratitude to the Assam Rifles for undertaking such an initiative and also requested Assam Rifles to organise similar events at regular intervals.

Assam Rifles also organised a 'Meeting cum Awareness Programme on Government Schemes and Vaccination for COVID-19' with village Chiefs and Secretaries yesterday at Awangkhul.

The programme was organised by Noney Battalion Assam Rifles under the aegis of Headquarters 21 Sector Assam Rifles and Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) to spread awareness about various Government Schemes like Jan Dhan Yojana, Atal Pension Yojana, Ujjwala Yojana, PM Kishan and Atmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, it added.

A lecture awareness about vaccination for COVID-19 was also conducted to educate them about precautionary measures in the programme which was attended by 7 village Chiefs and Secretaries.

Troops of Assam Rifles also organised an interactive meeting with Meira Paibis at Kumbi village of Bishnupur district on January 6.The interaction programme which was attended by 42 local women was conducted with an aim to sensitize them on the prevailing security situation in the area and also to enhance the cooperation and synergy between the Assam Rifles and the local populace for maintaining peace and tranquillity in the region.

Similarly, troops of Assam Rifles conducted multiple 'Anti Drug Awareness Campaigns' in Churachandpur, Bishnupur and Pherzawl districts on January 7 .

The event which included lectures on the importance of making a drug free society was attended by 280 adults and 210 youths from various villages, it added.

Refreshments were also served to the participants, children and the local populace who appreciated the initiative taken by Assam Rifles to ensure social empowerment and upliftment in all spheres of society.
