Two transgender persons relieved a woman of her laptop bag in the guise of blessing her in Vepery on Friday night.

The victim, Dolly Mehta (23), a resident of Chetpet and a private firm employee, dropped her colleague at the latter’s house on Ritherton Road in Vepery and was talking to her when two transgenders approached them.
When she gave Rs 20 to them, they demanded more money and took out her wallet from the bike claiming to bless her. When Mehta tried to take her wallet back, the other transgender escaped with her bag containing a laptop. When she managed to get the wallet from the transgender, she found Rs 500 was also missing. The Vepery police have registered a case. In another incident, a history-sheeter threatened a motorist at knifepoint near Madhya Kailash on Friday and escaped with his two-wheeler. Based on his complaint, Kotturpuram police have registered a case. CCTV footages revealed that the accused was a history-sheeter in Adyar.
