Imphal, January 09 2021: While the State Government has prepared enough cold chain points and storage facilities for storing COVID vaccines, the Centre would be providing four vaccine vans to the State Government for transporting COVID vaccines.

A high ranking official of Health Department informed The Sangai Express that there are two facilities with the Health and Family Welfare Department for bulk storage of COVID vaccines.

The official said that the whole quantity or doses of COVID vaccines needed for vaccination of the State's population can be stored in the two facilities.

At present, there are 12 vaccine vans and these vans would be able to deliver COVID vaccines to cold chain points of all the districts where the vaccines would be stored.

In addition, the Central Govt would be providing four more vaccine vans shortly, said the official.

The Union Cabinet Secretary held a meeting with officials of the State Government through video conference today on the COVID vaccination.

During the video conference, the State officials demanded four vaccine vans and the Union Cabinet Secretary agreed to provide the same.

The State Government has already prepared 126 cold chain points for storing COVID vaccines and over 40,000 health care workers would be innoculated in the first phase, the official added.
