On Sector 10 roads, potholes make driving miserable

Gurgaon: The residents of Sector 10 are having a harrowing time due to dilapidated condition of the roads in the area.
They alleged that the entrances of the sector and internal roads are in bad shape for more than three years making it difficult to commute.
“Several complaints have been made to the civic body and local representative but nothing has been done so far,” a resident said.
The residents said that after much effort, in August last year, the local representative inaugurated the commencement of road repair in the sector adjacent to Euro School which is the main sector road but the budget was not allocated then.
Thereafter, the work has been started but it is going at a snail’s pace for the last three months, they alleged.
Satyapal Yadav, one of the residents, said, “The condition of the roads are poor as no repair work was carried out for many years. The stretch is not more than half a kilometre but they are carrying out the work in an on and off manner for the last three months causing inconvenience for the residents.”
Thousands of families living in the sector are affected due to innumerable potholes on the colony roads. “It became a task for bike riders and pedestrians to commute without breaking their back or falling on an uneven surface road,” Yadav added.
Moreover, the condition of other sector roads, including the road adjacent to Alpine school connecting to Basai Chowk, are also in a similar condition, residents said.
“We have four entrances to our sector but now every road is in poor condition. Even traffic has been diverted and we are forced to use Kadipur village road. We have written several times to the civic body and local representative but to no avail. After heavy rainfall, potholes become a breeding ground for mosquitoes posing a health hazard,” said Mahavir Singh, a social worker.
Meanwhile, a senior MCG official said that the work got delayed due to some issue with the tender allotment and it will be completed soon. “Estimates for other road repair have been sent for approval,” he added.
