Bhandara fire tragedy: CM Thackeray visits hospital, meets kin of victims, orders safety audit

Bhandara, Jan 10 (UNI) Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday visited Bhandara district general hospital in which 10 infants lost their lives in a fire that broke out in the special newborn care unit of the hospital in the early hours of Saturday.

He met the parents of the deceased children and spoke to hospital and health officials.

Later, speaking to reporters , the CM informed that the fire safety audit of all government hospitals will be done soon.

He further announced that a team comprising Divisional Commissioner, former Mumbai fire brigade chief will probe the fire incident.

The CM also issued orders to check if the fire was an accident or something which happened as a result of ignoring earlier safety report.

"I found no words to console them," Thackeray said.

During the visit, Thackeray was accompanied by Maharashtra Legislative Assembly Speaker Nana Patole .
