Gordon Igesund has backed Swallows FC to challenge for the league title in what is their first season back in the top flight after earning promotion.
The former Swallows boss admits he has been hugely impressed by the strides made by the NFD Champions this season, saying that chairman David Mogashoa deserves massive credit for giving the coaching and playing staff his full backing.
Head coach Brandon Truter has steered Swallows to the lofty heights of second place in the Premiership standings and newly-promoted outfit will be hoping to claim maximum points when they lock horns with fifth-placed Pirates at Orlando Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
"First of all, they need to be congratulated on what the team is doing at the moment," Igesund told KickOff.
"I'm very impressed and I'm very happy for them because I've got a very soft spot for Swallows, as you know.
"I'm very happy for David as well, the chairperson. David is very professional, I like his attitude, I like the way he does things. I had dealings with him before you know, just when they were still in the National First Division trying to get promoted.
"I can see he's fully behind his coach, he's fully behind the players and that's always a good recipe to have a strong performance.
"I don't think David will put too much pressure on anybody because it is what it is. And you know they're not talking about winning championship, they just going along doing their job playing each game as it comes."
He continued: "They've got some experienced players, they've made some very good signings.
"The team is looking hungry, the team is looking like they want to do something. They looking like they're trying to send a message to everybody that Moroka Swallows is back and here to stay.
"I really do believe, because I'm a believer that anybody can win the league. I know that they can win the league because I've done it myself. I've done it myself exactly with Manning Rangers, I've done it myself exactly with Santos, I've done it myself exactly with Moroka Swallows when 10 minutes from the end of the game we were the champions.
"So you talking to me, I know exactly what I'm saying.
"But it's still a long way to go, they need to continue doing what they're doing. I do think they can go all the way.
"I also know it's not easy. I'm not saying they must win the championship, but they are doing really well."
