CHENNAI: AIADMK general council and executive committee on Saturday unanimously passed a resolution endorsing Edappadi K Palaniswami as AIADMK's CM candidate.
In October, party coordinator O Panneerselvam announced Palaniswami’s name as CM candidate.
The apex bodies under the leadership of Panneerselvam and joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami passed 16 resolutions on Saturday.
The general council and the executive committee delegated the powers to Panneerselvam and Palaniswami to evolve strategies for electoral victory and decide on the alliances and seat sharing.
In one of the resolutions, the party thanked Palaniswami for announcing free Covid-19 vaccine to the people of Tamil Nadu. It thanked the Centre, as well.
The party urged the Union government to prevent attempts to do away with provincial councils in Sri Lanka and ensure devolution of powers to Lankan Tamils.
The members also passed resolutions congratulating the EPS govt for initiatives to promote industrial development, setting up mini clinics, revolving fund to finance state government school students getting admitted under 7.5% NEET quota, allocation of Rs 600 crore for cyclone relief and Rs 2500 Pongal cash gift.
The party condemned the DMK leadership and the DMK for criticising the chief minister, unable to stomach his growing popularity.
