GREATER NOIDA: In two brazen incidents of loot, a group of assailants allegedly robbed petrol pump employees of Rs 10 lakh at gunpoint in central and Greater Noida on Friday.
Following the incident, commissioner of police Alok Kumar Singh suspended Surajpur station house officer Pradeep Tripathi for alleged negligence. Sources said that similar action could be taken against Beta II SHO Sujeet Upadhyay as well.
The first incident took place in Surajpur when two employees of the Indian Oil petrol pump travelling on a scooter were intercepted by the miscreants who snatched the keys of their scooter that had Rs 8 lakh kept inside its boot.
According to police, the employees of the petrol pump in Devla - identified as Arjun and Ankit - had kept the amount in the boot of their scooter to be deposited in the bank.
Arjun told TOI that the accused intercepted their scooter and took them at gunpoint.
"They snatched the scooter from us along with the cash. We walked till the petrol pump, informed the seniors and lodged a complaint," he said.
The second crime took place near City Park area of Greater Noida when two car-borne assailants allegedly looted two Indian Oil petrol pump employees who were heading towards a bank in Alpha Commercial belt area to deposit Rs 2 lakh.
The accused intercepted their bike near the City Park area around 3pm.
They took out a stick and hit one of the employees on his hand after which they snatched the cash from him. Police said FIRs have been lodged in both the cases under relevant sections of the IPC.
"We have formed teams to investigate both the crimes," a police officer said.
