Second phase of Covid vaccine dry run held in Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second leg of the Covid vaccine dry run was successfully completed in 46 hospitals across the state. Kozhikode district witnessed the dry run in more centres where it was carried out in five hospitals.
In all other districts, the dry run was carried out in the respective medical college hospitals or district hospitals, one private hospital and one rural and urban health centre each.
Health minister K K Shailaja said that the dry run could be completed successfully due to the well-coordinated effort from the district health administration and hospitals.
“The state is ready to distribute the vaccine to all the district as and when it reaches the state. The storage facilities are ready in all the districts,” said the health minister. In each hospital, 25 trained healthcare professionals were deployed for the dry run. All the procedures that have to be followed when the vaccination is given to a patient were carried out in the dry run. From vaccine distribution to the observation of the patient after the vaccination, everything was carried out.
In the first phase, the dry run was held in six hospitals in four districts. So far, from the health sector 3,51,457 people have been registered for administering the vaccine. In addition to this, 400 employees under the social security mission and 1,344 employees of 108 ambulance chain network are also being registered. The medical students, Asha workers and Anganwadi employees have also been registered for the vaccination drive in the first phase.
