KOLKATA: A woman who had met with a terrible accident a few months back and broke her leg while she was pregnant, came at a ‘Swastha Sathi’ camp in Salt Lake in an ambulance with her 21 days old infant and received her Swastha Sathi card on Saturday.
Soma Bar, a resident of Rajarhat area falling under Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation came in an ambulance with her 21-days-old baby with her husband at BD park in Salt Lake under ward 41 where a 'Swastha Sathi' camp was held on Saturday. Ward 41 coordinator Anindya Chatterjee said that though the lady’s residential address was at Rajarhat under ward 19, there was a special request for Bar to collect her Swastha Sathi card from his ward.
Chatterjee said that two months back, Bar met with a serious accident while she was pregnant as she was hit by a car and broke her leg. She was hospitalized and was completely bed ridden. However, in due course she delivered her child only three weeks back.
The woman, who is still not able to walk, was assisted by the local youths and she received her Swastha Sathi card on the spot.
Civic officials said that the woman was injured and had requested the civic authorities so that she can get the Swastha Sathi card at the earliest. “She was injured and had to come in an ambulance and stretcher. We have been receiving such requests so that the Swastha Sathi cards can be given on urgent basis. Previously a youth from ward number 3 who is a cancer patient and was in serious condition was issued the Swastha Sathi card from ward 9 of Bidhannagar on urgent basis so that he can get admitted at hospital for treatment as quickly as possible,” an official said.
