Snowfall continues in the mountainous regions of the country and the rains in the plains have increased the havoc of the cold. At the same time, Western Disturbance is in North India and it is slowly moving in the eastern direction. The cyclonic circulation has developed over the Western Disturbance and continues over northern parts of Punjab.

According to weather information website Skymet, light to moderate rains may continue over Tamil Nadu, Kerala, southern interior Karnataka, and coastal Karnataka during the next 24 hours. Light to moderate rains may occur over Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lakshadweep, Konkan and Goa, and Madhya Maharashtra.

Chance of rain in South India

This month there is a possibility of good rains in many parts of the country, especially in South India. According to the Meteorological Department, a cold wave is likely to occur in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana and northern Rajasthan on 11 and 12 January, while south India may receive more than normal rainfall from 14 to 28 January.

Hail is expected to occur over the next 24 hours in parts of north and northwest India. Light rain is also expected in Maharashtra, southern and southwestern parts of Madhya Pradesh, eastern Rajasthan, western Uttar Pradesh, and southern Gujarat. However, the weather will be clear in Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh from January 9.

Talking about North India, there may be a deep fog in Haryana, Punjab, North and East Rajasthan, Delhi, West Uttar Pradesh, and some areas of North Madhya Pradesh. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be rain in Bhopal, Indore, Hoshangabad, Jabalpur, and Sagar divisions in the next 48 hours. The Meteorological Department has also expressed the possibility of hail in the Bhopal and Indore divisions.

Possibility of falling minimum temperature in Delhi

The minimum temperature of Delhi is likely to drop by three to four degrees Celsius due to the northwest winds moving from the icy mountains towards the plains. At the same time, due to the fog prevailing in Delhi, the visibility there was reduced.

Yellow alert issued

Also, the Karnataka State Disaster Management Authority has issued a "Yellow Alert" for Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamangaluru, Hassan, Kodagu, and Shivamogga for the next two days.
