Hyderabad: Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) started the 15 MW division of the under-construction 39 MW solar plant at Yellandu, the birthplace of Singareni, on Saturday. It was synchronised in the presence of transco officials.

SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar, who heaped praise on officials, instructed them that the remaining 59 MW plant divisions in two areas in the first phase also should be completed by the month-end.

Director (Finance and P&P) N Balaram was the chief guest at Saturday’s synchronisation programme while Director (E&M) D Satyanarayana Rao hit the switch to synchronise the 122 KV Singareni solar power to the transco power station.

They said Singareni would set up solar power plants with an installed capacity of 300 MW, and by the end of the year, all plants would be operational. “These plants are installed for the stability of Singareni and as part of the business expansion plans. The company would save almost Rs 120 crore due to these plants,” they said.
