GURUGRAM: Chief minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Friday said all those found involved in the alleged kidnapping and extortion of a Delhi-based businessman will be punished.
Khattar said Vishal Kumar, the now-suspended SHO of Kherki Daula police station who is accused of taking Rs 57 lakh from the businessman and is on the run, will be arrested soon. The CM was addressing mediapersons after convening the district grievance committee meeting here on Friday.
“There was an exchange of Rs 57 lakh in cash and later a constable was caught red-handed taking Rs 5 lakh. The SHO is on the run and a head constable has been arrested. The SHO cannot escape for long, and will be arrested soon. The investigation will throw light on who are involved in the case,” Khattar said.
The businessman, Naveen Bhutani, has alleged he was held hostage from December 22 to December 23 evening by the SHO and other policemen and was allowed to leave only after he gave them Rs 57 lakh in cash. Bhutani then approached Faridabad’s vigilance team. The vigilance team caught the head constable red-handed taking Rs 5 lakh from the businessman on December 29, while the SHO is on the run. Bhutani has alleged the involvement of other senior police officials. The MLAs of Gurugram and Faridabad NIT had recently sought the CM's intervention in the case to ensure a proper investigation.
Gurugram University’s new campus to be built in 3 years
Earlier in the day, Khattar unveiled the new model of Gurugram University. The university’s new campus will be constructed in three years in Sector 87, around 15km from Gurugram. Officials said it will have an administrative block, auditorium, faculty building, pharmaceuticals science block, humanities and science block and hostels .
CM orders FIR against illegal hot-mix plant owner
Khattar chaired a meeting of the district grievance committee, where a total of 14 agendas were tabled. He ordered that an FIR be filed against the owner of a hot-mix plant illegally operating near KMP Expressway. A complaint on the delay in the resettlement of over 2,000 families affected by the acquisition of 1,590 acres of agricultural land by the Haryana State Industrial and Infrastructure Development Corporation was also tabled. The CM directed senior officials to submit all details regarding the matter to him.
