Cape Town City squandered a two-goal lead at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday as Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila came back to draw 2-2 in the DStv Premiership.
Abbubaker Mobara provided the first shot of the match as he unleashed from long range only to see the ball fly just wide of the post.
A few minutes later the visitors took the lead through Fagrie Lakay. Mduduzi Mdantsane put the TTM defence under pressure and forced an error, giving him the chance to put Lakay through for the opening goal.
The City pair combined again as Mdantsane put Lakay through on goal with a superb pass, but unfortunately for the visitors his shot went narrowly wide on this occasion.
In the 20th minute, Lakay made up for his miss and completed his brace as he gave the Mother City outfit a two-goal cushion. Bradley Ralani provided the cross and Lakay guided it home.
The home team woke up from their slumber in the 23rd minute to pull one back. Mobara's late tackle in the box gave TTM a penalty and Meshack Maphangule made no mistake from the spot.
The frenetic early stages of the game died down towards the end of the first half, and City took a 2-1 lead into the dressing room.
TTM had a rare chance to get themselves back on level terms when they won a free kick on the edge of the box, but goalkeeper Peter Leeuwenburgh made a comfortable save in the end.
In the 67th minute, TTM were rewarded for their perseverance as they drew level thanks to a timely strike from experienced forward Thembisani Nevhulamba.
Keanu Cupido came close with a header from Ralani's corner kick in the last five minutes but sent it over the bar as the game finished all square at 2-2.
